Hello friends! It is so good to be back on here posting for y'all! If you have been following me on my lifestyle page, youtube, or instagram (taybeth1) then you probably know that December and January were two really rough months for me. In brief, I was very homesick, lonely, and depressed and in turn lost all of my motivation and inspiration to do any of the things that I typically love. This blog is a main part of that. I started this blog years ago as a passion project because I love to write and I love to share my style with y'all. So, I am terribly sorry for my absence but I am feeling so much better and I am pleased to say that I have gotten my mojo back! Today's blogpost is going to be the first of many dedicated to my trip in Amsterdam! I recently took a weekend trip to Amsterdam with my friend Katie and I can honestly say that city is one of the most picturesque places I have ever been. Every street you turned down and every cafe you passed looked like it came straight out of Pinterest! Without further ado, enjoy my first post back! Please share it with your friends if you like it, follow me on instagram for a more daily update on my life, and let me know if there is anything you specifically want to see me style/create! For our first day exploring, I wanted to be cute but practical. I knew that it was going to be very cold and windy in Amsterdam so I relied on my layering skills! What you can't see is the leggings I am wearing under these "leather" ones and the long sleeve tee under my sweater and coat. Also not pictured are gloves because my hands were like ice cubes! In today's outfit I experimented with something that I usually steer clear of. I will go on record saying that I usually subscribe to the rule of not mixing black and navy. However, this is a big trend right now and I am starting to reconsider this thought. I have seen some of my favorite bloggers, like @somethingnavy, work with this mixture and she pulls it off so well. I wanted to give it a try myself. I started with my navy peacoat. I think a peacoat is the perfect middle ground for style and practicality. I love this one because I feel that it is the perfect length and is so easy to throw on. This one also has a detachable black fur collar. I usually go without but I decided to attach it for this outfit to tie into the black leggings. If you have ever been shopping with me, you will know that I have been on the hunt for "leather" pants for a very long time. This want has been even more inspired by a new favorite influencer of mine, @lydiaemillen. She loves leather leggings because they add a level of chic-ness to an outfit that is relatively simple and I wholeheartedly agree! When I saw these on sale for less than 5 pounds, I knew I had to grab them! On top of the leggings, I threw on my light gray oversized, turtleneck sweater. I picked this up at Urban Outfitters years ago during their 50% off clearance sale. It is very warm and I love that it is oversized because it can help to cover your backside when wearing leggings. I wanted to add a lighter color into this overall dark outfit and I think that light gray was the perfect way to do that! Now for accessories I actually decided to wear some jewelry today. If you didn't know, I am actually allergic to cheap metals and have a really hard time with jewelry. Rather than finding and spending money on high quality baubles, I have given in to laziness and for the most part choose not to wear anything. Today I wanted to be dressed head to tow so I grabbed some of my favorite simple pieces to add to this winter look. I went for a gold/rose gold palette today. As per usual, I am wearing my Michael Kors "Watch Hunger Stop" watch. I love the meaning behind this and come on, it's just really pretty! Next I popped on my Origami Owl bracelet. This was a birthday gift and I love how simple but personal it is. If you are unfamiliar with Origami Owl, it is a cool company where you can buy personalized charms to completely customize your jewelry. hen I threw on some rings. The bow is a Kate Spade ring that was gifted to me a few years ago. I love it and especially love how the bow ties into my bag. I also have on a simple midi ring. This thing is so old that I could not tell you where it is from even if I tried. This style is really easy to find though so I will try to link similar ones below. Lastly, I have on my great grandmothers ring. This is a family heirloom that means so much to me. Also, the blue stone perfectly coordinates with my navy coat. And as per usual, we end on my feet which are covered today by some simple black booties. I got these nearly 5 years ago at Target. In all honesty, they were purchased to wear to the One Direction concert in 2014 because they reminded me of the boots Harry was in to wearing at the time. Please excuse my cringy fan persona. I loved this outfit because it is very simple yet classy and it kept me warm all day while I was exploring this stunning city. So excited to be back on here with you guys and I hope you are excited that I am back as well. Love you all and I so appreciate all of you who read all of my posts and bear with me when life gets rough. Remember to follow me on Instagram for more often posts and I will see you next time! Well hello there fashion friends! I want to start by apologizing about the lack of content and outfit inspo. on this page lately! I talked about my absence in my most recent Lifestyle post so be sure to check that out if you missed it. Now, lets get into today's look! So today's outfit came from this new denim jacket that I bought at a street market in Seville, Spain. I went to multiple cities in Spain on Christmas vacation, or holiday for my British peers. I found this vintage, distressed, oversized, Wrangler jacket and it was only 20 Euros. I have been looking for a jacket just like this so I couldn't pass up that price. Now because I was on vacation for 2 weeks and could only pack a carry-on, my wardrobe options were relatively limited. So I had the option of wearing the same leggings that I had been traveling in for 2 days, or going double-denim. It's obvious to you that I gave into the 90's vibes and went for denim on denim. To keep it practical, I opted for my tried and true, not-so-white converse low-tops. I packed converse because they go with just about everything and they are pretty comfortable to walk around a city in. I grabbed my black, ribbed short turtleneck bodysuit. I am a huge advocate of bodysuits for two reasons: they are extremely easy to throw on and you do not have to give it too much thought, and you don't have to worry about your shirt coming un-tucked (which is a huge pet peeve of mine). I liked this one for this outfit because I feel like the ribbed texture adds to the 90's/ vintage vibes. When I bought this, my mom told me that it reminded her of one she had when she was in college so I feel like it is a pretty accurate representation. I then popped my new favorite hat on. I am a total hat person, which most of you probably already know, so I bought this page boy hat at a hatter in London. It is British made and such good quality and I felt that it was necessary for me to get a good British made hat while I was living her, so I got it and I am obsessed with. If you follow me on instagram (@taybeth1) then you will have seen this hat in many a post. To finish it off, I grabbed my everyday MK watch. I wrote all about this watch on older posts so I am not going to get into it. If ya know, ya know; ya know? And I grabbed my black belt from Target and my Urban sunglasses and called it a day. I love this outfit and I think it is such a fun look, and it is something a little bit different for me! It was super comfortable and practical for walking around Seville and was just the right amount of warmth for the breezy, sunny Seville day. I hope you guys liked this outfit and I hope it inspires you to go a bit old school and step out of your comfort zone a bit! Thank you for those of you that always read my posts and thank you to those who are reading this for the first time! I love you all and I will see ya next time! Much love! Hello friends! For today's look, I wanted to share an easy look that I put together for church. I like this look because it is comfortable, but in my opinion, is the perfect mixture of casual and smart.
This particular morning, I knew that I was going to be volunteering so I wanted to make sure I was in something that was going to be practical for running around and getting things done. With that in mind, I decided to start with a base of denim. These are my current favorite jeans.
I got them from American Eagle Outfitters and they are high-waisted, distressed light-wash. I love these because the waistline hits at the thinest part of your body, the natural waist. I also like how they have the rips in them to give a bit of texture, but they are not overwhelmingly ripped where you can see more leg than jean.
I paired the jeans with this cute embellished tee shirt from J Crew. I love this shirt because it provides the comfort of a casual tee, but has the added interest and decor of the embellishments. It is navy with Orange and Navy studs and rhinestones. I was gifted this for Christmas from my dear friend Sara and I love it!
I think that this shirt was the perfect choice for this look today because it provided with me comfort as I was running around and running errands, but it dressed the outfit up a but more than just a regular tee. Getting a few shirts that are simple, but not plain will be great additions to your wardrobes! You can pair them with skirts, jeans, or trousers. J Crew has a great variety of shirts like this and they are great quality so they will last you a while even though you need to spend a little bit more on them. But of course, you can find shirts like this from so many retailers!
Now in Brighton right now, it has been chilly and windy in the mornings, but nice and sunny after about 1pm. So I needed to have a coat on in the morning to walk around, but afterwards I had to ditch it because it was so hot!
Today I chose to grab my newest addition to my coat collection. I LOVE it! I have been looking for a new dark coat because I grew out of the one that I had. I found this one at a little shop in the North Lanes (Side note, I take you into the lanes with me in my first youtube video so definitely check that out if you haven't yet!) I found this one for 35 pounds which I thought was a great deal! That is about $45 and for a nice quality coat, that is a great price! I love this one because it is a peacoat so it buttons over itself in the front which helps with warmth and this one has a detachable black, faux-fur collar!
Now as you can see, I am wearing navy, black, and brown all together. Typically this can be a big NO for me when it comes to an outfit because it is hard to find tones of those three colors that work together well.
The reasons that I think this outfit works are:
On my feet I opted for my favorite brown booties! I love these because I think they are the perfect shade of brown to go with a lot of my wardrobe. In planning to move to England, I had to spend some serious time weeding out what clothes and shoes I could bring; and trust me, it was very difficult! I decided to try and bring things that would be as versatile as possible. I decided to bring a pair of short boots in black and brown, and a pair of tall boots in both black and brown.
These booties are from Tommy Hilfiger and I got them a few years back on sale at DSW! I love the brogue detailing on the toe-box because I love that it adds a bit of interest and uniqueness to the bootie! They have gold hardware on the zipper and zip-pull.
Since I went for a lighter brown shoe with gold hardware, I decided to match my belt. I got this belt from Target and it is reversible black and brown, I mean can you get any more versatile, with this cool brushed gold clasp.
I then grabbed my go-to purse right now. This is my beloved Kate Spade purse; but don't look too closely because it is in desperate need of a cleaning.
For accessories I went pretty light today. I grabbed my MK watch and then grabbed my navy and white striped glasses, which I need to see but have the added style benefit of being fun!
I hope that you guys enjoyed this post and I hope that it shows how getting a unique tee shirt can make "dressing up" super easy!
If you guys would be interested in seeing a post or video on how and why I packed the things that I did for my move then please let me know! What I am wearing:
Jeans: American Eagle Outfitters - https://goo.gl/rGB35L Top: J Crew Boots: Tommy Hilfiger @ DSW Coat: Sugar Hill Boutique Watch: Michael Kors Glasses: Jonathan Adler Bag: Kate Spade Good morning friends and welcome to another blogpost! Today I wanted to feature my beautiful friend Alivia because, well come on, look at her, it's a no brainer! I love her so dearly and I love her style! She recently had these stunning pictures taken by a friend of hers at her school in California. His name is Duncan and I think it's clear to see that he is a phenomenal photographer. Check him out @duncan_shaffer on Instagram. And without further a do, let's get into these looks! So to start, Liv put a base of a light-wash denim. These jeans are from Levi's and are the perfect denim to be able to dress up or dress down. I think that good jeans are something that everyone needs to invest in. I know that good quality jeans can be a bit pricey, but if you are able to find a style that is comfortable and flattering, then good denim will last you a long time and it will be worth the investment. Tay's Tip: Invest in a light wash, a dark wash, and a black pair of jeans to give yourself a versatile base for your wardrobe. Liv then paired the distressed jeans with this adorable wrap around top from Aniche Boutique. This boutique is based in California but they do have an e-commerce site and an Instagram that you can shop through. Check them out on Instagram @anicheboutique and at their website: anicheboutique.com I love this top because it is so simple and neutral, but adds so much personality to the outfit! The black tank allows this top to work with so many outfits, and the tie in the front makes more of a statement than a regular black cami. Since this look was so versatile and neutral, Alivia had a lot of flexibility with jackets. She chose to style the look in two ways. The first look was to add this light wash denim jacket. I love the way that the light denim-on-denim looks with the black accents of her shoes and top. Jean jackets are so 'in' right now so it is wise to invest in one. The nice thing is that you can find a quality-looking jean jacket without breaking the bank because they are trending right now. I personally don't currently own one but will definitely be investing in one ASAP. Liv got this jean jacket from American Apparel and I think that it was the perfect layer for this look. She then changed the feel of this look by ditching the jean jacket and adding this long, knit shawl that she also got from Aniche Boutique. A long shawl can add a layer for dimension and texture to a simple outfit. This shawl makes the outfit have a very laid-back, casual feel. It's comfortable and a very easy addition if you are looking to add layers to your outfit. I like that Alivia stayed with black for the shawl because it doesn't overpower this outfit! I love that she styled it in these two ways because it shows the flexibility you can have in your wardrobe with items that you probably already own. The last component of this look is these adorable ankle booties from Tommy Hilfiger. I absolutely love almost anything that's TH. I think that they have such a classic look in their products that will never go out of style. And I think that their initials are also pretty special *wink*.
Adding a short bootie with cuffed jeans is one of my favorite looks at the moment. I think that the bootie was the perfect choice because it transitions us into fall but is more casual than a full boot. Black was the perfect choice with this outfit because it keeps the neutrality of the look. I love these looks so much and I love the girl wearing them even more! Go follow my blonde on Instagram @aliviaj0y and give her some love! Big thanks to Liv and Duncan for these phenomenal photos! And that is it for me today! I love you all and I am so thankful for those of you who consistently follow along with me! Go follow me on Instagram @taybeth1 to get a closer look at my day to day life and I will see you next time! Much Love Truly, Taylor Hello friends from across the pond! I am officially living in England for the next 10 months and this will be my first blogpost out and about in the UK. I am living in a town called Brighton which is on the southern coast of the UK and it's so cute! Anyways, there will be plenty of content on exploring this new city but here is the outfit that I put together for my first day out exploring my new home! So I guess I will start at the top and go down! First off, I have on my grey felt hat that I got from Forever 21. It has a small leather strap around the top and I love it! I love how wide the brim is! It adds bold style statement as well as gives me a little shade! Next, I've got on my trusty Urban Outfitters wire rimmed sunglasses. If you keep up with my blogposts you know that these are my tried and true glasses. I got them in New York this past May and surprisingly I have not broken, lost, or sat on them yet. I have tried to find them online but it looks like they were discontinued. However, I was in H&M recently and they have some very similar frames so if you like them, check that out! I love these because they look like the RayBan Round rim sunglasses, but they were not $150. On my wrist, I have on three of my favorite Alex and Ani bracelets. I grabbed these three in particular because they remind me of home! I love New York, my 'Daughter' one is special because it was given to me by my best friend, AKA - mom, and I love the T because its a personal touch and it was a birthday present. I know that Alex and Ani bracelets can be pricey, but I love them because they have personal significance to me! Then, I've got my Michael Kors "Watch Hunger Stop" watch on! I talked about this watch in my last post but I am still loving it! This watch makes me feel like a world traveler and this beautiful view definitely added to that sentiment! I grabbed my dark wash Calvin Klein jeans to pair with this black, crewneck GAP sweater. I got this sweater from my dear friend Rachel and I love it! It is perfect for layering and it is not too hot, but kept me warm while walking along the sea. It wasn't too cold the day that we went out so I just wore the sweater; but, I am planning on layering this sweater for the winter months. I chose dark wash because I wanted to keep things dark today. Since I wore a black sweater, have on black boots, and have a dark grey hat on I thought that dark wash denim would provide a more cohesive look. For my feet, I've got on my favorite boots! These boots are "Charles" by Charles David and I got them a couple years back at DSW. I share them with my sister, Reagan, and she very kindly let me take them to England with me. I love them because they are suede, pointed-toe, over the knee boots and they have a gold zipper running up the back. I think they are the perfect boots to add a bit of drama to any outfit. And that is it folks! This outfit was very easy and super simple, but I liked that it looked more put together! Let me know what you think and be sure to follow me on Instagram; @taybeth1 to keep up with my life on a more day to day basis! I love you guys and I miss everyone from home! If you have any suggestions about places to visit in Europe please leave a comment or DM on Instagram because I would love to explore! Much Love fam!
